A weakened Odin is overwhelmed by Mangog. Thor returns to Asgard, seemingly too late to save his father. With the help of other elder gods, he frees his father and takes on the beast. Volstaag provides the court vizier mystic water to pour into Odin's cosmic well. This turns the tide, so that a revived Odin can replenish his strength in the power now flowing from the cosmic well. He uses his power to separate Mangog from the creature's power-source, countless hate-filled souls. Mangog then shrinks away... apparently into nothing. But Odin has used the last of his strength and dies. Or does he? Since Asgard is traveling between the worlds of time and space, the death goddess Hela cannot take Odin's soul. To preserve Odin, Thor uses his hammer to freeze the All-father in time.NOTE: Jon Costa is a pseudonym for John Costanza.
